Doula Services

Doulas support women and families in all kinds of situations, who have different kinds of births and make a wide range of parenting choices. The services offered by a Doula vary greatly according to the needs of the women, couple or family that she is working with. Doulas do not take a clinical role and work alongside midwives and doctors. They do not advise, but can support a woman to find balanced information to make informed decisions about her maternity care.

At The Nest®, we offer full birth Doula care and postnatal Doula care, all tailored to you and your family …

‘Full Birth Doula Package – Lexi

As Lexi is an experienced breastfeeding counsellor, this comprehensive package of support includes the provision of highly skilled breastfeeding support should you need it. I would always encourage an initial meet up, so that we can talk through your requirements and what I can offer; so that you can be sure I am the Doula for you.  This package also includes attendance on one of our fully comprehensive birth prep/hypnobirthing courses at a 50% discount should you wish to join us.

♥  I will visit you twice antenatally (2 x 1 hour sessions); this is an opportunity for us to meet and talk through your birth & feeding preferences, discuss any concerns you might have, explore relaxation and optimum positions for labour and birth; a chance for you to think about how you might want me to support you as you birth your baby, discuss the ways in which partners can support women in labour and consider what sort of support you might like once your baby is earthside …

♥  I will then go on call for you, usually from 38 weeks (unless we know your baby will be coming early). I will attend you during your labour and birth and offer gentle, non-clinical, person-centred support, both emotionally and practically …

♥  I will remain with you until your baby is born and will stay for up to two hours after that if you need me to …

♥  As your Doula and an experienced breastfeeding counsellor I will visit you once postnatally (1 x 2 hour session, option to purchase further support) to support you with establishing breastfeeding (or bottle feeding if this is how you have chosen to feed your baby) and offer practical and emotional support as you find your way with your new baby at home.

‘Postnatal Doula Support – Emily

Postnatal Doulas can support you in a variety of ways, according to your needs. Tasks would typically include watching the baby whilst you rest, food prep, light housework, walking the family dog or just being a listening ear in those early weeks or months with a new baby.  Your Doula is not there to take care of the baby for you, rather she is there to support you to be the parent you want to be.
